Northwest Weather Highlights / Fire Potential:
A week of significant lightning is expected as southerly flow brings monsoonal moisture northward throughout the week. Thunderstorm chances will begin in southwest and central Oregon and gradually spread eastward and northward as the week progresses. An upper level ridge will keep temperatures near or above normal throughout the week with some moderations at times due to cloud cover from thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy IA is expected mid to late week due to the increase of lightning east of the Cascades. Details are likely to change a bit from day to day, but for now the highest risks for new large fires appear to be in NW06 and NW11. However, many of the eastside PSA's are receptive to large fire ignition and spread.
