9/11/2014 Freezeout Ridge Fire Update

Freezeout Ridge Fire (Idaho side of the Snake River - T22N R2W S4):
Date Started: 09/05/14
Estimated Acreage: 250 acres
Location: Hells Canyon National Recreation Areas, Hells Canyon Wilderness in Idaho, on Freezeout Ridge. Approximately ½ mile west of Horse Heaven Cabin.
Management Strategy: Suppression Cause: Lightning
Containment: 0%
Terrain: Steep, rugged, inaccessible terrain, burning in timber and grass Fire Activity: Active
Resources Assigned: 4 firefighters on the ground monitoring fire behavior. Helicopters are being used as needed.
Closures: Fire Advisories have been posted on all trailheads in the area, but all trails remain open at this time. Visitors should refrain from entering the fire area. No public use restrictions apply in the Idaho side of the Hells Canyon National Recreation area.Resources/Structures Threatened: Horse Heaven Historical Cabin.
Current Status: Fire was very active yesterday, 9/10/2014. It’s locating in rugged, steep, and inaccessible terrain. Firefighters completed structure protection on Horse Heaven Cabin. Firefighters are observing fire activity, working with aerial resources for management of the fire. Fire is burning in the top end of Mill Creek and Anchor Creek. Temperatures got very cold on 9/9/14 evening with frost in some areas on 9/10/14; however temperatures will be warming today, with higher humidity’s expected and even warmer temperatures going into the weekend.
