Yesterday’s Operations: Fire behavior was active with wind driven runs on north flank of the Graves Mountain Fire. Spot fires were established across Deadman Creek. Crews continued to construct and secure fire lines and scout for contingency opportunities on the east and west flanks of the fire. The southern edge continued to be mopped up. The Graves Mountain Fire grew approximately 1,200 acres and is now estimated to be 15% contained.

Firefighters continued to mop-up the perimeters and around structures on the Marble Valley and Gold Hill Fires yesterday. The Marble Valley Fire is now estimated to be 96% contained and the Gold Hill Fire at 95% containment.

Weather and Fire Behavior: The warm and dry weather is expected to continue today with southwesterly winds of 12 – 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. There is a potential very active fire behavior this afternoon and evening.

Today’s Operations: Firefighters on the Graves Mountain Fire will continue to hold and mop up control lines on the west, south and east flanks and reassess structure protection needs along Hwy 20 and Deadman Creek. In coordination with the Kettle Complex an indirect fire line will be constructed west of the private land in the Deadman and Anderson Creek area that is threatened by both the Renner and Graves Mountain fires.

Firefighters will continue to mop up any hot spots on the Gold Hill and Marble Valley fires to management incident objectives until they can be placed into patrol status. Isolated smoldering of large interior fuels can be expected until extinguished.

Level 2 and 3 Evacuations continue to be in effect as implemented by Ferry County in coordination with Kettle and Colville Complex fire managers. For detailed information Contact Ferry County Emergency Operations Center at 509-775-3132.
