Active fire behavior with uphill spread, wind-driven runs and short range spotting. The fire has burned into the Monument Rock Wilderness. Road, trail and area closures in effect. Continue direct and indirect line construction, secure containment lines and burn out as conditions allow.
Withers OR-LAD-000266. IMT3. 1 mile N of Paisley, OR. Start 8/17. Full Suppression. Cause: Unknown. 3,424 acres (+2,624). 0% containment. Grass and Brush. Minimal fire behavior with backing and torching. Evacuation notices in effect. IMT2 NW Team 10 (Ciraulo) is scheduled to assume command of the incident at 1800 today.
Sheridan OR-DEF-000501. IMT3. 13 miles N of LaPine, OR. Start 8/17. Full Suppression. Cause: Unknown. 200 acres (-100). 25% containment. Timber. Moderate fire behavior with short range spotting and group torching. The fire is lined. Evacuation notices in effect.
Rim Reservoir OR-VAD-000156. IMT3. 23 miles E of Burns Junction, OR. Start 8/17. Full Suppression. Cause: Lightning. 669 acres (-331). 40% containment. The fire is lined. Grass and Brush. Moderate fire behavior.
Aspen OR-BUD-006075. IMT3. 20 miles SE of Frenchglen, OR. Start 8/17. Full Suppression. Cause: Lightning. 250 acres (+14). 80% containment. Grass and Brush. Minimal fire behavior. Mop up ongoing. Limited access. Shuttling additional crews in today. Does not meet 209 large fire criteria. Not included in large fire count.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Continued high pressure will result in hot and dry weather today. Winds in Eastern Washington will remain breezy before tapering off in the afternoon. Another dry cold front is expected Sunday night through Monday in Eastern Washington. Significant fire potential is elevated in most areas.
