Lone Pine Fire Moves Toward Full Containment

Yesterday evening the Lone Pine Fire, located 2 miles east of Gray Butte on the Crooked River Grassland, was declared 90% contained with 100 feet of line around the perimeter of the 900 acre fire secured.

Isolated islands of vegetation are still burning within the perimeter of the fire and two 20-person crews and 3 engines will continue to mop-up and patrol the fire over the next several days.

Lone Pine Road and Skull Hollow Campground have been reopened to the public.

Under the current dry conditions the public needs to consider the fire hazard of target shooting or driving on dry grass. People should review any areas where they have been target shooting or have parked a car to make sure they have not unintentionally started a wildfire before leaving.
