Northwest Fire Potential Summary
A ridge begins to build into the Northwest from the eastern Pacific, which will induce a general warming and drying trend. General west-northwest onshore flow will continue and be breezy at times, especially on the east slopes of the Cascades and around the Columbia River Gorge. Lighter and more northerly winds could result in smoky conditions for parts of northern Washington and central/southern Oregon.

A weak thermal trough is expected to build into southwest Oregon, which will result in hotter, drier, and unstable conditions with offshore winds possible through mid-week. Overall, large fire potential will decrease, but holdovers and growth on existing large fires are expected, especially in wind favored areas and southwest Oregon. Pay close attention to your local NWS fire weather planning forecast for more details on weather that can affect firefighter safety.
