Northwest Fire Potential Summary
The region is poised to undergo a significant warming and drying trend as a large ridge of high pressure amplifies over the northwest. Light general winds are likely from the northeast or east over the Cascades for the next several days as the warming trend strengthens. Poor overnight humidity recovery is likely at higher elevations and instability will increase during the weekend, moving from south to north in western Oregon. New ignitions will diminish but dry and unstable conditions will keep ongoing fires active. Expect more smoke accumulation to spread over western Oregon and Washington from fires in the Cascades.
