8/19/2017 Monument Hill Fire Update

Crews checking fire area before demobilizing from Monument Hill Fire 
Quincy, WA – The Washington State Patrol State Mobilization resources are set to demobilize and return home today from the Monument Hill Fire.  There will be crews on the fire line all day, checking for hot spots; local firefighters will monitor the area in the days to come.

The Monument Hill Fire began in the evening of August 16th northeast of Quincy, WA.  Local firefighters initially fought the fire and saved many homes and land.  On the morning of August 17, resources from across the state came to relieve these local firefighters. 
Agencies from local to federal levels fought the fire throughout the past 3 days. This includes the Bureau of Land Management, Washington Department of Natural Resources, and county fire agencies locally and from across the state.  A Type 3 Incident Management Team set up at Quincy High School to manage the fire resources.

Losses from this fire include 3 homes, multiple outbuildings, vehicles, farm implements and power poles.  One injury was reported by a firefighter working on the line. 
The cause of the Monument Hill Fire is under investigation.  It was likely human caused.
