Location: Methow Valley Ranger District on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest; 12 miles north of Mazama, WA.

Summary: A hotshot crew today will continue extending and improving handline along a ridge above the Pat Creek drainage. On Sunday in the Eightmile drainage, handcrews completed mop-up along the handline on the southern tip of the fire. This portion of the fire will move into monitoring status. Crews and equipment will continue to improve roads and contingency lines south of the fire.
Aviation assets will continue to monitor the fire and helicopter bucket drops may be used to work hot spots.
Firefighters continue to make progress on the fire. However, managers expect this to be a long-term event, continuing until season-ending precipitation occurs. Burning is likely to continue within the natural barriers and previous fire scars.
Travel will be restricted on Forest Service 52 road from 5225 to 5200-300 while crews work along the road.

Weather: Continued warming and drying with light winds is expected to produce areas of minimal to moderate fire behavior within unburned fuels. A high pressure ridge over the area today could result in increased smoke in the valley.

Closures: Fire area closures are in effect. There are road and trail closures within the areas. Eightmile Creek 5130 Road is closed from West Chewuch 51 Road to Billy Goat Trailhead. This closure includes the Ruffed Grouse, Honeymoon, Nice, Flat, and Buck Lake campgrounds. The Ortell 5220 Road is closed from Cub Pass, at the intersection with the Sweetgrass Butte 5220-100 Road, to the Eightmile 5130 Road. Sweetgrass Butte 5220-100 Road is closed from Cub Pass, at the intersection with Ortell 5220 Road, to Sweetgrass Butte. The entire Falls Creek 5140 Road is closed. All closure information can be found at https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/closures/5409/

Fire Restrictions: Maintaining, attending, or using a fire or campfire, and use of charcoal briquette barbecues, or other devices that use solid fuel are prohibited across most of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. An Industrial Fire Precaution Level III is in effect; firewood cutting with a power saw for commercial or personal use is prohibited.
Visitors are reminded to check travel conditions in the area and register at trailheads.
