Date/Time Stamp:  Saturday, Jul 21, 2018, 07:07

Northwest Activity Summary
The beginning of a warming and drying trend in Oregon was recorded yesterday.  Washington did not experience this trend, especially in the east where temperatures dropped and relative humidity rose slightly.  North winds continued to push into Southwest Oregon producing growth on many of the existing fires.  The fires that were under clear skies away from smoke layers saw the most significant growth.  No lightning or precipitation within the Geographic Area.  There were 20 new fires for 627 acres with 61,026 acres growth on existing fires.

Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Decreasing general winds for most of the region over the weekend as the pressure pattern shifts. Red Flag Warnings will be discontinued. Warming and drying will replace the winds. The potential for lightning will rise on Sunday and Monday over sections of Southern Oregon. The weather pattern does not favor widespread lightning but conditions appear hot and dry through the event.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Large fire potential drops on Saturday as winds subside on the east side. However, fire danger indices are at or near record values for late July and are likely to continue rising in most areas through next week. Even small amounts of lightning on Sunday and Monday will result in a surge in the potential for new large fires for sections of Southern Oregon.
