New Fires on ODF-protected lands
Klamath Unit, Klamath-Lake District - The McCoy Fire was reported burning this morning, August 9, near the top of Bryant Mountain on a mix of private lands protected by ODF, and BLM and USFS lands. Aggressive initial attack is ongoing with engines, crews, dozers, and two helicopters. The fire is burning in a mix of timber and sage grass and is estimated to be approximately 10-12 acres. There is a Red Flag Warning in effect for the area this afternoon due to low relative humidity and possible gusty winds. The cause of this fire is under investigation.

These fires are being managed under unified command by the Northern Rockies Incident Management Team 2 (Incident Commander Doug Turman), Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team 1 (Incident Commander Joe Hessel), and Oregon State Fire Marshal's Red Team (Incident Commander Ian Yocum).

South Valley Fire
This fire is being managed by Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team 2 (Incident Commander Chris Cline). Some crews continue with mop-up and patrol, as others are demobilized. Red Flag Warnings, an Extreme Heat Warning, and a Fire Weather Watch are in effect at various times through Friday for hot, dry, and unstable conditions, raising overall fire concerns in the area.
Garner Complex
The Oregon Department of Forestry Southwest Oregon District has completed a smooth transition with Florida Forest Services Red Team and assumed command of the Garner Complex this morning, August 9. While some out-of-area resources are demobilizing or being reassigned, all resources are not being removed from the fire lines. Some firefighters and personnel continue on the scene until the fires reach full containment, gridding the landscape for hot spots and continuing rehabilitation projects.
