Northwest Fire Weather Summary
A series of shortwave disturbances continues across the region through the weekend, maintaining the cool, moist weather and bringing occasional showers and a chance for wet afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Showers are likely today throughout western Oregon and western and northern Washington. The best chances for wetting rains will again be west of the Cascades with higher accumulations expected in northwest Washington. The Coastal Ranges and Cascades will have a chance for isolated thunderstorms this afternoon, as will northeastern Washington. General winds will be light, but locally gusty conditions will accompany showers and thunderstorms. Check your NWS forecasts and advisories for the latest details for your area. Forecast models now favor a brief, mild warming trend early next week.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
The potential for new large fires remains at background levels as fire danger indices have been moderated by cooler, moister conditions. Gusty winds in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms could challenge suppression efforts. Thunderstorms over the next few days will not be dry, but lightning could start some new fires, especially in the areas that have had little or no recent precipitation.

Note: The cooler temperatures and occasional precipitation over the Cascades may pose weather exposure risks for fire personal in the coming days.
