No measureable movement on Crescent, or Holman Fires was observed yesterday, minimal movement observed on McLeod. Creeping and smoldering along sections of the fire and in the interior persisted under cloud cover, precipitation and high relative humidity. Two days of rain were not significant enough to saturate heavy fuels. Smoke and fire activity will still be visible until this area receives a soaking rain or the first blanket of snow.

Crescent Mountain Fire: Objectives remain the same for today. Firefighters and public safety remain the first priority. Crews will continue to patrol, mop up and remove equipment and supplies from secured fire lines. Firefighters are scouting for opportunities to secure the southwest corner of the fire near Buttermilk Creek. The intent is to limit fire size and minimize impacts to private lands, timber, grazing and habitat among other values at risk.

McLeod Fire: The fire continues to slowly back downhill in the Lost River drainage. Cool temperatures and recent rains have provided an opportunity for going direct along much of the active fire perimeter where it is safe for firefighters to do so. Suppression repair objectives and resource needs are being determined. Heavy equipment remains in the Eightmile drainage removing logs.

Holman Fire: Minimal fire activity was observed yesterday during an aerial assessment. The fire will continue to be monitored by air resources.

Closures: The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and North Cascades National Park have issued trail and area closures orders in the vicinity of all three fires. Closures may be reduced as the fire threat decreases. Maps and information on the closures can be found on tinyurl.com/ClosureMaps.

PCT Reroute: The Pacific Crest Trail is closed from Harts Pass north to Woody Pass. As of 8/31/2018, there is a detour for hikers to reach the Canadian border from Slate Pass using Trail No. 575 to Trail No.478, then Trail No. 473 to Woody Pass.

Campfire Closures: Campfires are prohibited on all Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest lands. For more information please visit the forest campfire restriction page.

Weather and Fire Behavior: Showers and chance of isolated thunderstorms remain in the forecast for today. This cooler weather pattern continues through this weekend.
