Northwest Fire Weather Summary
A weather pattern change is beginning today as an upper level low pressure system moves in from the Pacific. This will bring showers and a few wet thundershowers mainly to sections of Oregon in PSAs NW04, NW03, and NW06. General winds will also increase from the west or southwest, mainly in Central and Eastern Oregon but also in the Columbia Basin of Washington. This pattern change will bring on a cooling, moistening trend for the next 4 or 5 days.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Large fire potential will be elevated through Saturday as fire danger is elevated and general winds will increase east of the Cascades. The addition of some lightning will cause some ignitions mainly in PSAs NW04 and NW06. Thunderstorms are expected to be wet and conditions are not ripe for excessive risk of new large fires but some initial attack activity is likely on Saturday. Fire danger will fall further on Sunday and Monday as cooler, moister conditions settle across the area.

Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Expect little change in the weather over the geographic area today as high pressure slowly begins to weaken. Temperatures will remain generally on the warm side and humidity generally low. On Saturday an upper level weather system moving in from the Pacific will cause a change as showers and a few wet thundershowers develop over Oregon and sections of Washington. This will bring on cooler conditions for Sunday and the first part of the new week. General winds are expected to be light today but will begin to increase from the southwest tomorrow east of the Cascades in Oregon.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Expect little change in fire potential today from that seen yesterday. Fire danger remains elevated in a number of PSAs, particularly Southwest Oregon (NW03 and NW04). Fire danger will begin falling late today and tomorrow as weather changes move in. A few fire starts may be possible over sections of Oregon from the lightning. Fire danger will fall further on Sunday and Monday as cooler, moister conditions settle across the area.

Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Warm and dry weather continues today and tomorrow with an upper level high pressure ridge still along the coast. Dry easterly winds are expected over and west of the Cascades again today and tomorrow due to persistence of a thermal trough at the surface. The blocking ridge should give way going into the weekend as a closed low currently well off the California coast approaches with cooler temperatures, breezy winds, and some precipitation. Weather models are still divergent on details for the weekend, so check the latest National Weather Service fire weather planning forecast for the latest projection for your area.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Fire danger will continue to rise through Friday with the warmer and drier weather. Western Oregon (PSAs NW04, NW03, and NW07) will see the most increase in significant fire risk due to the combination of drier fuels and gusty east winds. Initiation of new significant fires is not likely, but flare-ups of ongoing incidents are possible due to the elevated burning conditions. Fire danger will begin to moderate this weekend as cooler, moister weather returns.
