The Northern Rockies Type 1 team will be transitioning with a Type 3 team Friday, 8/23/14.

Current Situation: In spite of gusty, erratic winds, firelines held yesterday and containment increased to 87%. Minimal fire behavior was observed as crews continued to patrol and mop-up 200 feet inside control lines. On the un- controlled perimeter, crews will continue to hold and secure lines and patrol spots along the fire edge.

Rehab is progressing rapidly as damages caused by suppression efforts are repaired and put back as closely to their natural state as possible. Mitigation efforts include leveling soil berms caused by dozer line, repairing and replacing fences, installing water bars and grass seeding of disturbed soils

Public and firefighter safety remain our top priority.

Weather Outlook: Today will continue to be breezy with west/northwest winds of 10-15 mph with gusts to 23. Temperatures are expected to be between 65-77 with humidities between 23-34%.

Evacuation Information: All evacuations were lifted at 12:00 pm 8/19/14. Road closures will remain in place in consideration of fire personnel and equipment still working in the fire area. Forest Closures: The Washington Department of Natural Resources issued a closure for the entire Naneum Ridge State Forest. Contact DNR Southeast Region at (509) 925-8510 for details. The Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest has issued an Area Closure adjacent to the fire. Injuries: There have been 16 non-life threatening medical issues that received treatment at the local hospital. All were treated and released.
