Activity Summary
In the Northwest:
Moderate mainly dry lightning in Southwest Oregon along a line from Medford to Bend. Moderate initial attack with three new large fires. Continued  growth on the Cable Crossing, Stouts Creek and Wolverine fires. Northwest PL raised to 3 (8/1 at 0001 hrs.). National PL raised to 3 (7/31).

Cable Crossing OR-933S-000081. IMT1. ODF Team 3 (Smith). 6 miles E of Glide, OR. Start 7/28. Full Suppression. Timber, slash and brush. Cause: Unknown. 1,110 acres (+280). 15% containment. Extreme fire behavior with group torching and short crown runs. Numerous structures threatened. Road and area closures in effect.

Wolverine WA-OWF-000287. IMT3. 3 miles NW of Lucerne, WA. Start 6/29. Monitor/Point Zone Protection. Timber. Cause: Lightning. 2,300 acres. (+800). 0% containment. Active fire behavior with uphill runs, single tree torching and group torching. Communities and structures threatened. Evacuations in effect. Wildland Fire Management Team (Hutton) planned in brief at 1300 today. Team not tallied in Northwest Fire Activity count.

Goode WA-NCP-000031. IMT4. 24 miles E of Marblemount, WA. Start 7/29. Full Suppression. Timber. Cause: Unknown. 140 acres. (+40). 0% containment. Limited access.
Blue Creek WA-SES-000653. IMT3. 10 miles E of Walla Walla, WA. Start 7/20. Full Suppression. Timber, grass. Cause: Unknown. 6,004 acres (-221). 95% containment. Minimal fire behavior with smoldering, creeping and isolated torching. Structures destroyed. Evacuations and road closures in effect. City of Walla Walla Watershed and Blue Wood Ski area threatened.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary:

Lightning chances and coverage increase across southern, central, and eastern Oregon today and into early next week with strong outflow winds possible. Hot, dry, and unstable conditions remain today across much of the region and continue east of the Cascades through the weekend. Lightning could stretch into southern and eastern Washington beginning Sunday and continuing into next week.
