8/26/2015 County Line 2 Fire Update

The Oregon Incident Management Team #1 (Shawn Sheldon, IC) continues to manage the County Line 2 Fire. 

In Shitike Canyon, crews strategically burned the area along the south dozer line towards the most northerly dozer line. At this time there is approximately 2,000 ft of line to build in this area There was intense burning in the interior near the western edge of the fire. Helicopter bucket drops and dozer lines are keeping all spots in check.

As conditions allow, crews will continue burning operations along the dozer line on the north side of Shitike Canyon. The most effective window for burning continues to be in the evening as temperatures cool, but prior to relative humidity increasing.

Crews continue to monitor, mop-up and patrol fire on north, east, and southeast perimeters. There was a fire near the water tank in West Hills yesterday. Everyone is asked to monitor any actions that could cause fires.

Temperatures today forecasted to be in the low 80s; relative humidity 20-25 percent; winds starting from the south and changing to northwest winds 5-8 mph. There is still the chance of isolated thunderstorms across the area through Friday.
