Fire Information
National Creek Fire 9/15/2015
  • The fire had minimal growth on Monday due to the cooler temperatures and higher humidity levels. However, the humidity did not produce any measurable precipitation. The National Creek Complex Fire is not out.
  • The fire is now at 19, 498 Acres. Of that 13, 227 acres are in Crater Lake National Park boundaries and is the largest fire in the park’s history. The fire has burned 2,147 acres on the Umpqua National Forest and 4,124 acres of the Rogue Siskyou NF.
  • Firefighters continue the arduous work of constructing a line along the south/southeast portion of the National Creek Complex.
  • The drop in temperature and the rise in humidity levels create fire behavior that is expected to smolder and creep along the ground. This gives firefighters a small break, allowing them an opportunity to move the line towards the east on the south end of the complex.
  • Crews continue to monitor fire lines along State Hwy 230 and the North Entrance Road to Crater Lake National Park, working to extinguish any hot spot that might be detected.
The Crater Lake National Park North Entrance road and the PCT trail remain open. If you plan to visit the area you may want to check out the Crater Lake National Park web page (http://www.nps.gov/crla/index.htm) or call the fire information number (541) 600-4089.
