Hot and dry over the past 24 hours. No lightning and no rain. Light initial attack with the largest fire reported at 295 acres (Oregon). Almost 1,000 acres growth on the Rail fire. IMT2 NW Team 10 (Ciraulo) has been prepositioned in Redmond. National Preparedness Level raised to PL4.

Sheridan OR-DEF-000501. IMT3. 13 miles N of LaPine, OR. Start 8/17. Full Suppression. Cause: Unknown. 191 acres (-9). 35% containment. Timber. Minimal fire behavior. The fire is lined. Evacuation notices in effect.
Rim Reservoir OR-VAD-000156. IMT3. 23 miles E of Burns Junction, OR. Start 8/17. Full Suppression. Cause: Lightning. 669 acres (+0). 80% containment. Grass and Brush. Minimal fire behavior. The fire is lined.
Aspen OR-BUD-006075. IMT4. 20 miles SE of Frenchglen, OR. Start 8/17. Full Suppression. Cause: Unknown. 250 acres (+0). 90% containment. Grass and Brush. Minimal fire behavior. Mop up ongoing.
