9/18/2016 NWCC Large Fire Morning Brief

Northwest Activity Summary
Fall like temperatures region wide with gusty winds. Continued dry weather in Southern Oregon. Moderate to heavy precipitation in the mountains of Washington and the north half of Oregon. Light scattered precipitation in the Columbia Basin and no precipitation in the south half of Oregon. Light initial attack. The Rock Creek fire reported increased containment and no growth. No prescribed fire activity reported.

Rock Creek WA-OWF-000495. IMT2 NW Team 7 (Knerr). 12 miles NW  of Naches, WA. Start 9/10. Full Suppression.Cause: Unknown. 1383 acres (+0). Timber. 80% containment. Minimal fire behavior. Continue to patrol, hold and mop-up. Road, trail and area closures in effect. Transition to Type 3 Team planned for Monday, 9/19.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
An active and unsettled weather pattern will persist through the upcoming week with breezy conditions today and cooler than normal temperatures. Rain is likely at times in Western Washington and Oregon north of Roseburg. Occasional mountain showers on the east side each day through the work week and no rain in Southern Oregon. Significant fire potential declines through the forecast period with the cool and moist conditions.
