Cold and wet in the last 24 hours. Continued precipitation across Washington and Northwest Oregon. Moderate amount of lightning yesterday in Northeast Washington. Light initial attack with the largest fire reported around Spokane at 10 acres. Very limited interior growth on the Rail fire.

Continued burning of interior fuels. Mop-up and suppression repair ongoing. Road, trail and area closures. Evacuation notices.
Cayuse Mtn. WA-SPA-000024. IMT3. 8 miles SW of Wellpinit, WA. Start 8/21. Full Suppression. Cause: Human. 18,116 acres (+0). 95% containment. Timber and grass. Minimal fire behavior. Continued mop-up around interior structures. Road and trail closures. Evacuation notices.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Large fire potential continues its downturn as cooler wetter weather remains in the Region. Despite occasional lightning and periods of wind, fire potential is unlikely to escalate until next weekend, when another warm dry period begins to become sufficiently established to bring higher fire danger conditions back into the Region.
