Northwest Fire Potential Summary
An upper level ridge will persist across the Northwest through the first half of this week producing very warm, unstable, and drying conditions with little chance of precipitation.
Today, a thermal trough will shift eastward towards the Cascades with instability and poor overnight RH recoveries persisting over western Oregon. As the thermal trough shifts eastward through the Cascades into eastern Oregon later Monday into Tuesday, gusty winds and instability could trigger increased fire activity for ongoing incidents.
In addition to the hot and unstable conditions, thunderstorm chances increase across portions of eastern Oregon today through Wednesday, creating an increase in initial attack activity.
