Northwest Fire Potential Summary
High pressure will bring warming and drying conditions to area west of the Cascades today, spreading into the eastern areas Monday.
Although brief, elevated to near-critical fire weather and new fire potential conditions return Monday into Tuesday. Temperatures will warm on the order of 10 to 15 degrees above normal, along with increased instability and Haines values of 5 for areas west of the Cascades Monday, shifting to the eastern areas Tuesday. The hot and dry conditions will be accompanied by an offshore flow across Oregon, while winds out of the North will prevail over Washington.
The weather pattern will transition back to a cooling and moistening trend mid-week, allowing for a moderating burning conditions and ERC values back to seasonably average levels. There is a threat for scattered showers and a few thunderstorms Tuesday, lingering over the eastern areas into Wednesday.
