Yesterday: Fire activity was insignificant due to higher humidity levels and cooler temperatures.
Air support was back up and running with four helicopters from Chelan
County, the Washington Air National Guard and a S61 Sikorsky. They were
able to drop water along the eastern side of the fire.
Crews bulldozed trail on Nelson Butte.
The structure crew work within the Canoe Creek area completed about 75% of the structure protection.
The Canoe Creek area to the west and the Llama Ranch area to the southeast remain under a Level 1 evacuation (get ready).
Today: Crews will begin going direct on the fire on the Sawtooth Ridge
using a combination of handline, check line and cold trail to tie the
fire into the rocks to the north. Crews on the Nelson Butte Ridge will
complete the prep work and begin looking at direct options to suppress
the fire.
Crews will begin removing fuels using a masticator/brush cutter down
the Nelson Butte Ridge. A hotshot crew will be inserted to the bottom of
the ridge by boat and begin uphill line construction from there.
Structure protection is projected to be completed in the Canoe Creek
area. Road improvements continue and are expected to be completed by
next weekend.
Humidity will be in the high 20s with winds changing to south,
southwest this afternoon. Today is expected to be the coldest day of the
week with temperatures in the 60s to 70s before becoming hotter and
dryer this weekend.

Closures: Current road closures include the Grade Creek Rd (from the
intersection with FS 8200-117 (Oss Peak Rd) to the intersection with FS
4330-600 (South Fork Gold Creek Rd)/FS 8020 (Cooper Ridge Rd), South
Fork Gold Creek Road 4330-600. Trail closures: Uno Peak Trail, Safety
Harbor Trail, Summit Trail (From South Navarre Campground to junction
with FS Trail 1258), Summer Blossom, Foggy Dew, Crater Creek and Martin
Lakes. The Deer Point and Safety Harbor Campgrounds are also closed. Foggy Dew Campground remains open.
