Location:  Cle Elum Ranger District, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, 11 miles northwest of Cle Elum, WA.

Evacuations:  Kittitas County, at the recommendation of the Incident Management Team, anticipates lowering evacuation levels early this week in portions of the Lower Teanaway and Cle Elum Valley.  Full details can be found at tinyurl.com/KittitasEvacs20170911.
Yesterday: Crews continued preparing containment line, reducing fuels, and performing mop-up along the eastern, southern, and western fire perimeters. Helicopters continued to support firing and holding operations. On the southern perimeter, firefighters extended containment line westerly towards Morgan Creek.  In the west, crews continued mop-up along containment lines in the Morgan Creek drainage and areas south. On the east perimeter, firefighters continued firing activities into Jungle Creek.  Temperatures remained warm at higher elevations into the night, allowing fire to continue back down into Johnson Creek on the northern/northeast perimeter.
Today’s Activities:  Fire will continue backing towards containment lines on the west and east perimeters, fueled by warmer temperatures and lower humidity. Aerial firing operations will continue in Jungle Creek and Johnson Creek; sprinkler systems have been set up to protect nearby infrastructure. On the northwest perimeter, aerial operations may occur in the North Fork Teanaway drainage to add depth to existing lines, while crews continue reinforcing planned containment lines. Firefighters continue to mop-up on the west, south, and eastern perimeter where the fire has met containment lines. Structure protection crews will protect the east and west fire perimeters, while line construction and improvement along Cle Elum Ridge continues.
Closures and Fire Restrictions: Closures remain in effect to ensure the safety of firefighters, residents, and the public. Forest Service lands in the upper Cle Elum Valley are closed beyond one mile north of Roslyn on State Route 903, east to Highway 97. The Nature Conservancy lands east of Cle Elum Lake are closed. All Washington Department of Natural Resources lands in the Teanaway River Corridor west of Route 97 including all campgrounds in the Teanaway Community Forest are closed. Please check current conditions before making plans to visit the area. Washington Department of Natural Resources and the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest have banned all campfires due to the high fire danger.
Red Cross Shelter is located at the Putnam Centennial Center (Senior Center) 719 E. 3rd St, Cle Elum, WA 98922.
Weather: Drier, warmer and less breezy conditions are expected today with light winds out of the west / northwest. Temperatures will rise to the lower 80’s while relative humidity lowers to 17-23%. Warmer temperatures will remain through Tuesday, and a strong dry cold front will bring a cooling trend starting Wednesday.
