9/25/2017 Diamond Creek Fire Update

Fire behavior slows in Pat Creek area
Update: Chipping was completed around Sweet Grass, Ortell Creek, Deer Creek and Goat Creek yesterday. Excavator line was completed near Eightmile Ridge. Suppression repair work on the 300 Road continued throughout the operational period. The fire was monitored by ground and air resources.

Fire activity in the Pat Creek area was slower yesterday than previous days. As was expected, heavy timber fuels continued to smolder and creep yesterday in the Monument Creek area. The fire activity seen around Monument Creek was due to yesterday’s rise in temperature.

Approximately 97,043 acres in the U.S. and 30,454 acres in Canada have burned. No significant growth is expected in the U.S; however, increased fire activity is still possible with the drying weather pattern.

Today’s Activities: Resources will continue to monitor fire activity. Suppression repair work will continue on primary and secondary lines. One crew, one engine, one helicopter, and other heavy equipment remain on the incident.

Weather:  Yesterday brought warming temperatures and ample cloud cover as upper ridging continues to build. Today should see similar temperatures as yesterday, but chances for precipitation will be on the increase as an upper level disturbance passes. 90% chance of cloud cover, 40% chance of rain showers.
