Today:  Additional personnel continue to be added to the firefighting effort.  A ten person hand crew from the Entiat/Chelan Ranger Districts of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest arrives on Friday to assist with strengthening the primary line south of the fire.  When available, helicopters from the National Park Service and Washington State DNR can be used for bucket-drops, illustrating the interagency cooperation prevalent in firefighting.  Fire managers continue to assess the potential for alternate strategies in the hills between the fire and the town of Mazama.

Weather: Moister air will move over the fire today.  There is a slight chance of showers this morning with a greater probability of thunderstorms into the afternoon and early evening.  Cooler temperatures and higher humidity associated with this air mass should moderate fire behavior.  Winds will shift from the northeast to the southwest as the day progresses with light speeds of 5 to 8 mph.

Smoke:  The smoky conditions of the last few days should begin to dissipate with the forecast change to a southerly air flow. For smoke conditions and more information, visit wasmoke.blogspot.com.

Closures: There are currently more than 60 roads or trails closed for public safety including Monument Trail #484 and Andrews Creek #504. Complete closure details and maps are available at inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/5409/.

Evacuation Alert Level: Mazama, Rendezvous and Lost River are under a Level 1 evacuation. A Level 1 notifies residents and visitors to be aware of the danger that may exist in their areas. Monitor emergency services information for updates. The Okanogan County alert system will provide automated alerts to the public.
