Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Cooler conditions and elevated humidity will allow for a respite in burning, along with decreasing fire danger today. Winds will be gusty out of the west today across the Columbia basin.
High pressure builds back into the Pacific Northwest Sunday and Monday, resulting in a brief warming and drying trend, along with return of the offshore flow. Although there will be an up-tick of ERC values and fire activity during this time, the severity will be less as observed in the past and will only last on the order of a day or two before moderating burning conditions return.
There is a potential for a frontal passage to bring another round of showers and wet thunderstorms across much of the region around mid-week. Although lightning will bring a threat for new starts, the thunderstorms will be followed by higher humidity and another cooling period.
