Northwest Activity Summary
Slightly below normal temperatures yesterday in much of the region with areas of gusty winds on the east side of the Cascades. There was some light precipitation in parts of western Washington. No lightning occurred in region. Initial attack was light with the largest fire reported at 360 acres in eastern Oregon. Moderate fire behavior was reported on the Lime Hill 2 fire, a new large north of Vale, Oregon.

Boxcar 0410 RN. OR-PRD-000410. ICT3. 1/2 mile E of Maupin, OR. Start 6/21. Full Suppression. Cause: Unknown. 100,207 acres. 90% containment. Timber, brush and tall grass. Interior pockets burning causing noticeable smoke. Structures, infrastructure and recreational areas threatened. Includes previously reported South Junction. Last report unless significant activity occurs.
Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Little change from Saturday is expected today. Temperatures in Washington and over much of Oregon appear a little below average for July 1. Gusty westerly general winds will continue across the Columbia Basin and in the Columbia Gorge before decreasing a bit on Monday. No thunderstorms are expected across the region.
Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Main fire threat continues to be in and near the Columbia River Gorge and Columbia Basin due to westerly general winds. No lightning is expected so the ignition source will be human caused fires in flashy fuels. Overall, the risk of Type I or Type II large fires appears low through the next several days although initial attack will be challenged by fires driven by wind in flashy fuels. Fire danger as measured by ERC appears near or slightly below normal east of the Cascades and above normal on the west side.
