Current Activity:
Crescent Mountain Fire: Firefighters continued monitoring and holding along the Twisp River between Poplar Flat and Slate Lake. Fire continues creeping down Snowshoe Ridge toward Eagle Creek. Wind impacts were minimal last night on the whole fire. Today, crews will continue assessing the situation in the Eagle Creek area and the west part of the fire toward Lake Chelan, aided by infrared mapping. Clearing air and visibility will allow us a promise of aviation assets today.

McLeod Fire: Sustained winds of 10-25 mph were observed after midnight. Firefighters worked to contain slop overs and small spot fires throughout the night and crews will continue to work to suppress and monitor those today. Lines at Goat Creek held last night and will be flown today with infrared. Additional crews will arrive tomorrow to assist with containment efforts.

Holman Fire: The fire is in the Pasayten Wilderness and will be flown today with infrared. We are working with the Methow Valley Ranger District staff on public and private infrastructure.

Evacuations: A Level 3 evacuation is in place for West Buttermilk Creek Road and Twisp River Road, west of the Buttermilk Creek intersection. Level 3 means all residents in the affected area need to evacuate NOW. There is a Level 2 evacuation in place for residents west of Little Bridge Creek Road. No evacuations are in effect for the McLeod Fire.

Closures: The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has issued several closure orders. Maps and information on the closures can be found on the fire’s InciWeb page. See temporary flight restriction details at the Federal Aviation Administration’s website.

Smoke/Weather: Temperatures will climb to 85 degrees over low elevations and near 70 degrees around 5000 feet. Unstable air will occur until the cold front passes this morning. The Washington Smoke Information’s webpage has information on smoke and public health. Smoke information in Spanish can be found on the WA Dept. of Health’s website.
