Northwest Fire Weather Summary
It will be cooler across the region today behind a cold front that passed through last night. Breezy winds are expected this afternoon through the Cascade gaps and downstream areas to the east. A series of shortwave disturbances will cross the region tomorrow through Thursday, continuing the cooling and moistening trend and bringing occasional showers and a chance for wet afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Current forecast models suggest a return to warmer, drier conditions next weekend.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Fire danger is declining as the cooler and moister weather pattern settles in over the region this week. The potential for new large fires is correspondingly diminished to background levels due to lack of critical weather and fire danger combinations. Gusty westerly winds this afternoon could challenge efforts on initial attack and existing fires in those wind prone areas east of the Cascades.

Note: The cooler temperatures and occasional precipitation over the Cascades may pose weather exposure risks for fire personal during the coming week.
