Northwest Activity Summary
Light winds and cloudy skies with average temperatures yesterday. Northwestern Washington received wetting rains, while west of the Cascades and in northeastern Washington trace amounts of moisture were received. A few lightning strikes in northeastern Oregon were recorded along with light precipitation. Initial attack remains light with little growth on existing large fires. 412 acres of prescribed burning was recorded.

Klondike. OR-RSF-000354. IMT2, NW Team 7 (Knerr). 9 mi NW of Selma, OR. Start 7/15. Full Suppression. Cause: Lightning. 174,175 acres (+271). 72% containment. Moderate fire behavior. Timber. Structures threatened. Evacuations in effect. Road, trail and area closures. IMT2, NW Team 8 (Johnson) ordered, inbrief planned for 10/27 @ 1600.
Northwest Fire Weather Summary
It will be mostly dry across the region today before another frontal system crosses the region tomorrow and Friday. The weekend will see some clearing before another system approaches early next week. The latest model runs are showing Thursday’s front to be weaker than previously forecast, but it should still generate more widespread precipitation than yesterday’s front. General winds will remain light through the forecast period, but could get locally gusty as frontal systems traverse the area. Check your NWS forecast guidance for local timing details.
Northwest Fire Potential Summary
The moister marine air mass, along with precipitation will moderate fire danger indices. The risk for new significant fires will stay low for the foreseeable future.
