Northwest Activity Summary
Trace amounts of moisture were received along the northwest coast. The northeastern mountains of Washington also received a trace of rain and a few lightning strikes. Dry conditions occurred for the rest of the area. Above average temperatures and breezy conditions occurred east of the Cascades. Some dry lightning in the evening occurred over central Oregon. Initial attack activity was light with one new large fire east of Madras.

Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Light rain showers are likely today mainly over western Washington and along the Canadian border. This afternoon has potential for showers and isolated thunderstorms for eastern Oregon and northeastern Washington. Some of the storms in Washington could get strong but should be wet. Breezy winds are expected through Cascade gaps and across the east side basins, and gusty outflow could surround thunderstorms. Warm, dry weather returns Thursday into Friday. Winds will pick up again on Friday afternoon and again Saturday. Cooler and wetter weather will arrive during the weekend.
Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Significant fire potential remains at or below seasonal normal levels through the week. There is potential for lightning ignitions and breezy winds raise some concern for spreading grass fires in areas that have received less beneficial rain lately. Fire behavior concerns will be concentrated in fine fuels with exposed slopes and accumulations of thatch. Storm activity may increase fire spread and change direction of spread suddenly. Due to good humidity recovery burn periods should remain short.
