Northwest Fire Weather Summary

The Pacific Northwest will be cooler today behind the system that moved through last night. Residual showers over northeastern Washington and northeastern Oregon will drift northeast out of the region this morning. Drizzle and showers over western Washington and northwestern Oregon will taper off through the day. Breezy winds will persist into this evening east of the Cascades, particularly through the Columbia Gorge and Kittitas Valley and adjacent lowlands. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible again this afternoon and evening in northeastern Oregon and eastern Washington. After a drier Wednesday, chances for showers return Thursday and Friday as another disturbance crosses the region. Temperatures will fluctuate with passing systems but remain close to seasonal norms region-wide for the next several days, while seasonal relative humidities will continue to have good overnight recovery. Check local NWS forecasts for details in your area.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary

Significant fire potential remains at or below seasonal normal with the main fire threat remaining in light fuels on the lee side of the Cascades and around the Columbia Basin, particularly in breezy periods. Gusty winds around the Columbia Basin this afternoon could challenge efforts to control fires.
