Northwest Fire Weather Summary

Significant warming and drying continues today with the heat peaking today on the west side and Wednesday on the east side. The weather will start to change as a trough of low pressure approaches the coast Wednesday. Winds will increase with the approaching trough and a series of systems will keep breezy to windy conditions in the region through next weekend. Isolated thunderstorms are possible in central and eastern Oregon Wednesday afternoon and again Thursday with lesser chances on Friday. Precipitation with these systems does not look too impressive at this time, with the Washington Cascades likely to see the most accumulation. Temperatures will cool to near seasonal normal levels through the weekend. See your NWS forecasts for the latest local details.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary

The potential for development of significant fires remains at or below seasonal normal across the region today. After several days of hot and dry conditions, the mid-week windy conditions and potential for lightning will elevate the risk of significant fires for central Oregon and central and eastern Washington into the weekend.
