Yesterday: Precipitation from the day before moderated fire behavior across the areas of active fire. On the northwest, firefighters and air resources focused on structure protection around Bumping Lake and Goose Prairie and monitored the fire on American Ridge as it backed slowly down into the American River. On the northeast and east, structure protection continued along the Highway 410 corridor and crews assessed possibilities for constructing more direct fireline south and west of Forest roads 1706 and 1709. Crews continued to work to secure line and slow fire spread around Edgar Rock. Firing operations along the trail to Burnt Mountain were completed. Mop-up and repair work continued throughout the southern half of the fire.

Today: Despite increased winds from a frontal passage, cooler temperature and higher relative humidity is expected to result in minimal fire behavior. Firefighting priorities are to establish an effective fire line north of Lost Creek (using the 1709 and 1706 road system), hoselays and fuel reduction work around structures in preparation for fire threat in the Cliffdell and Lost Creek communities, and establishing a fuel break to the west of the Goose Prairie area.
