Northwest Activity Summary  

Light precipitation fell across the west side of the Cascades while the east side saw scattered precipitation in northeast Washington and from central Oregon to the Wallowa Mountains. Relative humidity ranged from 20-30% where there was no precipitation.  Breezy winds across most of the geographic area. Maximum temperatures cooled down to the 50-60s with many areas on the east side freezing overnight. Isolated lightning in northwest Washington. Large fires saw minimal fire behavior and no growth.

Devils Knob Complex. OR-UPF-000450. IMT3. 30 mi SE of Roseburg, OR. Start 8/3. Full Suppression. Cause: Lightning. 70,110 acres (+0). 65% containment. Minimal fire behavior. Timber. Road, trail and area closures. 

Schneider Springs. WA-OWF-000453. IMT3. 18 mi NW of Naches, WA. Start 8/4. Full Suppression. Cause: Lightning. 107,322 acres (+0). 88% containment. Minimal fire behavior. Timber. Road, trail and area closures.  

Cougar Peak. OR-FWF-210452. ICT4. 15 mi NW of Lakeview, OR. Start 9/7. Full Suppression. Cause: Unknown. 91,810 acres (+0). 90% containment. Minimal fire behavior. Timber. Road, trail and area closures.  


Northwest Fire Weather Summary   

Mostly dry over the northwest geographic area today except for a few lingering showers over southeastern Oregon today and Friday. A weakening frontal system will approach the coast on Friday with a chance of light rain. A stronger cold front will move ashore from the Pacific late Saturday and spread rain over the entire region Saturday night and Sunday. Temperatures below average right into next week. General winds will be fairly light today and Friday becoming stronger on Saturday and Sunday as the Pacific frontal system moves in.   

  

Northwest Fire Potential Summary   

The potential for new significant fires is forecasted to remain low through the week.
