Wenatchee River Ranger District:
Lower Sugarloaf Fire located near Sugarloaf Lookout, 17 miles west of Entiat in the footprint of the 1994 Tyee Fire area and has grown to over 2,500 acres. The Southern Grey Team is assigned to the incident and will take over command on Thursday; they will be replaced by Northwest Incident Management Team 3 on Friday. Smoke is very visible to the communities of Plain, Leavenworth, Wenatchee, and Entiat. Level 1 evacuation notifications are effect for areas of the Chumstick. A closure will be in effect around the fire area late Wednesday. Resources assigned to the fire include three helicopters, air attack, Baker River Hotshots, Navaho Hotshots, three type 2 crews, and three engines. Additional resources arriving today include a surge task force with Department of Natural Resources consisting of a dozer, five engines, and misc. overhead.
