9/28/2014 Deception Complex

The Deception Complex includes the Deception Creek, Staley, Davey, Pool Creek, Spirit Ridge and Edith fires. As drying continues since the last rain, smoke is reappearing within the containment lines. Crews are again focusing on mop-up activities along with implementing repairs and removing excess firefighting equipment.

Mopping up hot spots within fire perimeters will be a primary focus today, in addition to repair and improvement of roads and fire lines. Retrieval of water handling equipment such as hoses and pumps will continue. Helicopters will be lifting cargo nets full of excess fire equipment from the fire lines to staging areas where the equipment can be loaded on to trucks for removal from the forest.

Warmer and drier conditions are predicted for today.  High temperature below 3000 feet elevation will be 70-75 degrees with Relative Humidity of 40-50%. Wind on ridges will be from north to northeast 3-7 mph in the morning, then from the north to northwest at 6-10 mph with gusts to 18 after 1400. The smoke transport wind will be from the northeast at 8-13 mph.
