Southwest OR –Wild Rivers Ranger District, Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest
Hand crews, engines, and other personnel continue to patrol the fire line perimeter, mop up, and rehab. General clean-up of the areas that contain fire activity debris such as flagging, signage, etc. is also taking place.
The infrared flight from last night had limited obscuring cloud cover so estimated size of fire is holding at 4,134 acres. There is no expected additional growth from the fire and remains at 95% containment with anticipated full containment Tuesday, September 30, 2014.
The last heavy helicopter assigned to the fire will be released after shift today, leaving one medium helicopter available through Wednesday if needed. Total assigned personnel resources have dropped to 59, including 2 hand crews and 5 engines.
A high pressure system will push into the area Sunday with breezy northeast winds shifting to light northwest winds around noon. A weak front will move onshoreMonday and bring a chance for light rain possible through Tuesday. Warmer and drier weather is expected to return Tuesday evening through Saturday as high pressure builds in more strongly.
