Northwest Fire Potential Summary
A strong thermal trough west of the Cascades is elevating large fire potential on the west side due to dry, windy, and unstable conditions. Early Saturday the thermal trough will shift east as a dry cold front moves over Washington. This will bring "high risk" large fire potential conditions to most of the PSAs east of the Cascades during the main burning period on Saturday due to the combination of high fire danger, very strong winds, and low humidity. With ongoing large incidents and the potential for new ones, this is a critical situation on Saturday with the main focus on eastern Washington. After Saturday, fire potential declines as a slow cooling and moistening trend develops.
