Northwest Activity Summary
Precipitation was observed in much of the region. Heaviest rain fell west of the Cascades and along the Canadian border. Trace amounts were recorded in the southern portions of the region and at higher elevations east of the Cascades. Lightning accompanied the storms with the majority of strikes observed west of the cascades and in northeastern Washington. Fire growth on existing large fires and initial attack activity remained light.

Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Cool weather with occasional showers with embedded thunderstorms will continue through the weekend. Central and northeastern Oregon could see some showers today with a chance for a few thunderstorms in the Blue Mountains this afternoon. Showers are also expected in western Washington and along the Canadian border this afternoon and evening. General winds will be light, but locally gusty conditions could result from showers and thunderstorms. Check your NWS forecasts and advisories for the latest details for your area. Drier and slightly warmer weather should move in early next week.
Northwest Fire Potential Summary
The potential for new large fires remains at or below normal risk levels as fire danger indices have been moderated by cooler, moister conditions. Gusty winds in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms could challenge suppression efforts. While expected to be accompanied by rain, lightning could start some new fires, especially in the areas that have had little or no recent precipitation.
