Vale District BLM - Pole Creek Fire Update
Steep and inaccesible terrain along with shifting winds are hampering containment efforts on the Pole Fire. Last night, the fire jumped containment lines and burned actively throughout the night. This morning the fire was burning into the Morgan Creek Drainage and towards the Hibbard Creek drainage and the Snake River Road. A Type 3 Incident Management Team is being assigned to the fire. The campground portion of Spring Rec Site is closed to the public as firefighters are utilizing this as a base of operations. The day use parking lot and boat ramp are still open to the public. Please avoid using the Morgan Creek Road, and the Snake River Road and Lookout Mountain Road in the Morgan Creek and Hibbard Creek areas if possible due to firefighting traffic and potential fire impact. Please drive with caution. Firefighters are keeping a close eye on the strucutres located in the Hibbard Creek drainage and preparing for any potential effect to this area.
Please do not call Vale dispatch. During times of fire activity, they are very busy with supporting and coordinating response to wildfires.
Al Crouch is serving as the Vale District primary point of contact regarding fire information for this event.
