Firefighting Continues on the Umpqua National Forest


ROSEBURG, OR – July 19, 2024 – Currently on the Umpqua National Forest there are 27 confirmed fires, seven fires are 100% contained. The region is feeling a shortage of resources, and these new fires are being staffed based on the values that are at risk. Wildfire smoke has had a significant impact on aviation resource requests. 


Current Fire Information:

Trail Fire – Just east of Diamond Lake. Trail Fire is estimated at 2,000 acres. Multiple crews and engines assigned to this incident. Air resources ordered, unable to fly due to smoke. A Forest Closure Order has been issued for this fire. Diamond Lake Campground is closed through Sunday, July 21, 2024. We will reevaluate on Saturday. Reservation cancellation emails, including refund information have been sent via Recreation.gov. Evacuations for the Trail Fire can be found on the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

 

Pig Iron Fire –Estimated 4 acres, hose laid from the end of the fire down the west side. One engine, one crew, one individual resource on site today. Air attack and 2 LATs today.

 

Lemolo Fire – Estimated 250 acres. Air resources ordered, unable to fly due to smoke. Evacuations for the Lemolo Fire can be found on the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

 

Shadow Fire –Estimated 8 acres. Douglas Forest Protection Agency (DFPA) and Forest Service resources.

 

Adam Mountain Fire –Estimated 20 acres.

 

Horse Heaven Creek Fire- Estimated 50 acres. 3 engines, one crew, and two individual fuels resources. Handline around 20%.

 

Lost Bucket Fire Estimated 2 acres. DFPA and Forest Service resources.

 

Watson Fire –Estimated 10 acres.

 

Jack Saddle Fire – Estimated 0.5 acres. Hose lay around 30%, 30% - 40% contained. Forest Service and DFPA resources.

 

Clearwater Fire- Estimated 0.10 of an acre, 100% lined.

 

Slide Fire – Estimated .5 acre. 100% lined.

 

Beaver Fire –Estimated 18 acres.

 

Trep Fire –Estimated 20 acres.

 

Quartz Canyon Fire –Estimated less than 1 acre.

 

Reynolds Butte Fire –Estimated 10 acres, about 1,000 feet of hose lay. Four engines on site today.

 

Mineral Fire –Estimated 10 to 20 acres.

 

Garwood Fire – Estimated 2 acres. 50% lined. One crew, one engine, one individual, one type one helicopter resource on site, one rappel ship that dropped off three rappelers.

 

Brodie Fire –Estimated 28 acres.

 

Steelhead Fire –Estimated 40 acres.

 

Pine Bench Fire –Estimated 800 acres. Two engines on site today. Air resources ordered, unable to fly due to smoke. Evacuation information related to Pine Bench Fire in the Soda Springs area can be found on the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

 

Fires that are 100% contained: Bald Ridge Fire, Spring Fire, White Creek Fire, Puddin Fire, Tucker Fire, Donegan Fire, and Cultus Fire.
