Yesterday: Firefighters improved primary line around the fire perimeter, checked the fire edge to the north for remaining hot spots, and installed hose along the fire line. Firing operations occurred between the southern fire line and burned areas to the north. The firing operations produced smoke around Lookout Mountain, which may be visible from nearby areas. Road improvements and construction of contingency line continued.

Operations Today: Firefighters will check the line around yesterday’s firing operations, and then firing operations will be completed for the interior of the primary fire line. Smoke will continue to be visible around Lookout Mountain. Following firing operations, firefighters will secure the fire line so that any flare-ups from around the perimeter of the fire will not break through. After the fire line is secure, crews will begin mop-up, working through the burned areas to locate and extinguish hot spots. Road improvements and construction of contingency line will continue. After today’s operations, Windy Pass Fire will begin to release resources and personnel to other fires.

Weather: A warming dry weather trend is expected through the week. Winds will be light from the northwest. No chance of precipitation through the end of the week.
