SANDSTONE FIRE UPDATE

Sandstone Fire is located on the south side of Thunder Mountain several miles north of Forest Road 70 on the Clackamas River Ranger District. The fire was caused by a lightning strike from a passing storm system in the early morning hours on Monday, August 5. The fire is now estimated at 121 acres after more accurate mapping from last night’s infrared flight.

Northern Rockies Complex Incident Management Team 2, which is managing the Whisky Creek Fire near Cascade Locks, will assume command of the fire tomorrow morning at 6 a.m.
Temperatures were in the mid-80s today and are expected to be similar tomorrow. The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Advisory for the area until Thursday, August 8 at 8 p.m. Air quality may reach unhealthy levels due to smoke and ozone.
