Today's Fire Update. Please note the following:
FIRE RESTRICTIONS: Public Use Restrictions pertaining to chainsaw use, smoking, and off-road travel on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest have been lifted. Seasonal campfire restrictions will remain in place until October 31, 2014. The specific PURs information can be found at the end of this document or at: http://www.fs.usda.gov/goto/PURS.
**CLOSURE UPDATES**
- Freezeout Ridge Fire Trail closures- For public and firefighter safety, the below trail closures remain in place. Fire Managers plan to keep the closures in effect through the weekend, and will reevaluate conditions early next week.
- South Boise Trail #101 (#101A): Closed from Junction with Seven Devils Loop Trail #124 and #214 northeast to the Junction with Dog Ridge/Oxbow Trail #625 (#62)
- Trail #194 (#113): Closed from Junction with Horse Heaven Trail #214 east to Junction with Trail #192/191 (#113)
- Trail #114: Closed from Junction with Little Granite Creek Trail #112 southeast to Junction with Horse Heaven Trail #124 and #214.
Forest Officials encourage everyone to be safe and careful when recreating, hunting, or using the National Forest. Please make sure campfires are dead out before leaving a site; the fire should be cold to the touch with no potential to ignite.
Forest officials also want to remind visitors to check frequently with local district offices on fires in the area and closures associated with fire activity. The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest has a 14-day stay limit for camping and visitors should not leave a camp unattended for more than 24 hours.
