Northwest Activity Summary
Abundant lightning yesterday afternoon and evening in south-central and southeastern Oregon, southeast of a line from Baker City to Crater Lake. Lightning is continuing the morning in the southern Cascades. These storms have been getting moister over the past 48 hours, with a number of weather stations reporting more than .2 inches of precipitation overnight. It was warm and calm across eastern Washington.
Moderate to heavy initial attack in southeastern Oregon, heavy in south-central Oregon, with new large fires in central and southeastern Oregon. NIMO (Quesinberry) ordered for the Indian Creek incident on the Mt. Hood NF.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
More lightning fires are expected on Wednesday but will begin to trail off on Thursday and Friday as the weather pattern shifts toward a stable and drier patter. PSA NW07 is seen as at biggest risk of new large fires but other PSAs around central and eastern Oregon will undergo some starts from lightning as well. Fortunately, for the time being, new starts in Washington appear no more than normal for this time of year.
Longer term outlooks for the weekend and beyond suggest hot and dry weather will continue for the region. No major relief is seen in the overall pattern of high fire danger over Oregon and Washington. This is due to a persistent and broad ridge of high pressure that is covering the western states. While lightning fire starts during the continued dry spell are not anticipated to be excessive, some thunderstorms are possible at times over central and eastern Oregon and Washington.
