The Curry County Sheriff’s Office has issued an additional evacuation order, Level 2 SET! This means there is significant danger to your area, and residents should either voluntarily relocate or be ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice. This evacuation order is on the authority of the Curry County Sheriff’s Office.

NEW TODAY:
Residents on Gardiner Ridge Road and residents on South Bank Chetco Road, east of Mt. Emily Road and up river are on Level 2 notice. Click here for a downloadable update.

STILL IN PLACE:
Still on Level 3 evacuation notice, are residents on the top of Gardiner Ridge Road and Cate Road past the Hazel Camp area, the Wilson Creek area, and along the Chetco River from Loeb State Park to the Wilderness Retreat area.

Displaced residents may relocate to the evacuation shelter at the Brookings-Harbor High School (625 Pioneer Rd, Brookings, 97415). The American Red Cross is staffing this shelter. Travelers in campers and motels are asked to relocate elsewhere along the Oregonian coast. Residents should make arrangements to move property and livestock. People with special health needs or other concerns should relocate during the warning.

The Sheriff’s Department is turning back public traffic along the North Bank Chetco River Road at the Loeb State Park. We strongly advise travelers to avoid this area so the appropriate law enforcement and wildland firefighter resources can respond to this emergency.

Chetco Bar Fire Information will be staffed 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and can be reached at 541-247-3680. There will be a Community Meeting Sunday, 3 p.m., at the Azalea Middle School, 505 Pacific Ave, Brookings.

Red Flag Warning:
There is a Red Flag Warning in effect from 5pm this afternoon (8/19) to noon on Sunday (8/20) for strong gusty winds with low RH in the area of the wildfire.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will create extreme fire growth potential.
