Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Flow around an offshore upper level low has introduced moisture into the region bringing a chance of isolated thunderstorms starting in Southern Oregon late this morning, spreading along the Oregon Cascades and Southeastern Oregon this afternoon and evening. The thunderstorm threat resumes tomorrow morning initially in Southeastern Oregon then spreading to cover most of Oregon and Eastern and Northern Washington by Thursday afternoon. Storms may persist overnight Thursday in the Eastern portions of the Pacific Northwest and continue through Friday evening. Little rain is expected with the thunderstorms. Check your NWS forecasts and advisories for the latest details for your area.
Northwest Fire Potential Summary
The threat of dry lightning combined with near-record fire danger indices will challenge initial attack resources and bring high risk for development of new large, costly fires today through Friday. General winds should remain relatively low, but gusty outflow winds from thunderstorms should be expected to further complicate fire management efforts.
